About the team

We run 3 ladies sides and all of them play in the TrySports 3 counties league which covers Berks, Bucks, and Oxon. We welcome new members of all abilities and pitch positions, and you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome!

The Ladies 1's are in Prem 1, Ladies 2's are in Div 2 and Ladies 3's are in Div 3 so there is a broad range of age and ability to suit any standard of player.

Training

The Ladies train on Wednesdays at the University of Reading Sports Park, Shinfield Road, Reading, RG6 6AH (If using satnav please use RG6 6UR). The session is 8pm to 9.30pm each week and will start on 16th September 2020 for season 2020/21.

Getting back to hockey?

All our training sessions welcome women that have been inspired to get back into hockey. Even if you haven’t held a stick for 20 years, if you want a safe environment to come and give it a go, then come along and see if you like it! We’ll have a coach there to help you out and it'll all come flooding back once you get started again.

What do you need to get started?

For season 20/21 we need you to complete the EH Participation Agreement before you train so we can provide information for Track & Trace. We also need you to be covered by our insurance so we ask for £10 insurance membership. Other than that, all you really need is some energy and enthusiasm! But, for your first session ideally you would have a stick, some water, shinpads, trainers and a gumshield. If you don't have your own stick please let us know in advance.

Contacts

If you are interested in coming to training to see if you like it, you can contact the Club Secretary on this website using the Contact button and we'll get back to you with more info and contact details for the day you want to train.

And if you want to join?

Funny you should ask that. If you decide you like the sport (and the club) and you would like to join, to keep on training and also to be selected for matches. We have a couple of subscription options for adults and full time students over 16. Under 16’s would join on our Junior rates (their page is also on the website).

For new joiners, the annual student subs are £25 and for adults it’s £120. If you are a goalkeeper with your own kit you can join for £60.

If you want to join as an occasional player you can pay £20 and play a maximum of 5 matches per season.

Depending on how far through the season we are when you join, we may be able to pro-rata the subs.

Match fees are payable for any games that you might play on a Saturday. These are £7 for students and £10 for adults. Occasional players pay £10 per match.

Unfortunately, we're not able to hold a Club Day in September due to Covid restrictions, but as soon as we're allowed we'll be organising some welcome events.

Matches

We play our home matches at Reading Uni. We will also travel away to various grounds around the 3 counties. In normal circumstances, we do try and car share to keep fuel costs down, but at the moment we do need to follow government guidance on travel so you may have to make your own way to matches.

Club Kit

Once you sign up to be a member, you can access our Club shop for playing kit and all your training wear! We proudly play in bright orange (with a hint of navy) and shorts/skorts, shirts and socks are all available through the Club. We also have tracksuits, jackets, t-shirts, hoodies, and rain jackets in a more subtle navy with orange trim for those that like the full club gear experience!
