After a difficult non-league fixture last weekend against South Berks, the Ladies 2's grabbed all 3 important points this Saturday against Oxford Ladies 5's. The team started strongly with lots of possession in the Oxford half but struggled to find an end product in open play. The team worked hard to upgrade their attacks and won a string of penalty corners which Oxford defended well and the home side couldn't put away. Despite being on top for most of the game the first half finished 0-0.
The second half started brightly, with the home team having most of the possession and pushing for a goal, but it took until 15 mins in for the deadlock to be broken. Phoebe Gannon scored the opener after tireless running up and down the wings, and then Beth Tait-Alexander added a second ten minutes later, both from open play, which settled the nerves.
Oxford did get the odd breakaway chance but were very limited in their opportunities to score and seemed unlikely to get back into the game. With 5 minutes left to go, P&R grabbed their third from a penalty corner - the keeper saved the initial shot but the ball fell kindly to Jax Batten-Lincoln who finished past the grounded keeper.
The team stay second and next weekend face the long road-trip to Banbury who are also near the top of the table.
