Five Goals and Some Brioche

Good Afternoon Gentlemen

I sit here with a pint of water (Hugh's Drinking Habits make mine look mundane) after a hard-fought 10k race this morning (57 minutes new PB), and it dawns on me that a match report needs to be written.

We arrived post haste having been summoned by Captain Winslet a full 45 mins before push-back. Unfortunately the aforementioned young man with the hair was late as he had insisted on a pre-match warm up of Mc Donalds with the two Dan's. I (Bromley) attempted to explain the new formation to howls of laughter and sarcasm (nothing changes in the men's threes), and so we waited for the main man to arrive after his Big Mac.

He explained the formation of three at the back, a diamond in midfield and two wingers out wide with a further striker up top. Let the game begin.

Early on we instigated some dominance, there was passing and moving off the ball (not seen in a men's three shirt in a while), and lots of excellent communication. We had to make it count!!!!!!!. The ball was hoofed forward un-spectacularly and a few deflections later we were on the attack, Tony looking confident and majestic back on the Astro this year had his chance, boom. One nil up.

We then went two nil up, (Sam scored two and Tony Three I can't remember what order), but then we were under a bit of pressure. Steel was needed from the two Dan's and Tom who were often pulled back as Wingers to help us defend. Hubbs and Bill were playing deep, we were under the cosh. And then it happened, a goal went it from a strangely angled shot that had both myself and Joshy fooled.

Half Time: Team talk to say: lads we have got this they are ours. We will make a Winston Churchill style speaker out of Sam yet.

The second half began, boom another goal. We were breaking left and right, lots of movement and even a little composure. Well done for Paul and Rob for spraying the ball left, right and centre, we had them spooked. Then it happened, Bicester got on the break and I was left one on one with a wee tyke who had me stranded (like a beached whale), so accidentally (I will profess this still) my foot hit the ball, so I was green carded and off I went. The very reason why I am writing this ode to you now. Sam said it was funny and laughed in my face (very motivational) but we stood tall. MPC also received a brief spell on the line as well.

Then there was a save by Josh on a penalty flick (what a hero), and there was also time for Sam to slide it onto his left and release the reverse stick slap hit that defies all logic.

Well done to all especially Tony who was confirmed as Man of the Match.

See you next week
