We are delighted to share that Deese Pointon has won the Woodie Award for Club Person of the Year for the 2024/25 season.
This award is presented, every year, in memory of Heather Smith (aka Woodie). Woodie was a larger than life member of the PRHC hockey family, and who embodied the sort of spirit that we're renowned for.
Woodie sadly passed away in June 2014 but the award honours her memory by recognising the contribution of people that show similar team spirit and attitude that she showed.
Deese plays a huge role in our club running the junior section and received a number of nominations from coaches, parents and club members!
One parent said in their nomination "Deese goes significantly above and beyond the work required to ensure that the training and matches are organised and happen. In every single facet she ensures that people are listened to and made to feel valued, be they new joiners, parents, coaches, ground staff, even the opposition!...she makes it fun, specifically for the juniors, ceaselessly encouraging them...most of all, the juniors just think she is great and she communicates with them so well as equals."
Congratulations Deese! Thank you for everything you have done for the club.
