Training

The Ladies train on Wednesdays at the University of Reading Sports Park, Shinfield Road, Reading, RG6 6DJ. The session is 8pm to 9.30pm each week. Dates and times are in the Calendar which you can find here.

Getting back to hockey?

All our training sessions welcome women that have been inspired to get back into hockey. Even if you haven’t held a stick for 20 years, if you want a safe environment to come and give it a go, then come along and see if you like it! We’ll have a coach there to help you out and it'll all come flooding back once you get started again.

What do you need to get started?

You don't need anything to come along and have a taster session with us. After your first taster session, we'd ask you to join on Pitchero and to be covered by our insurance we ask for £10 insurance membership. Other than that, all you really need is some energy and enthusiasm! But, for your first session ideally you would have a stick, some water, shinpads, trainers and a gumshield. If you don't have your own stick please let us know in advance.

Contacts

If you are interested in coming to training to see if you like it, you can contact the Club Secretary on this website using the Contact button and we'll get back to you with more info and contact details for the day you want to train.

And if you want to join?

Funny you should ask that. If you decide you like the sport (and the club) and you would like to join, to keep on training and also to be selected for matches. We have a couple of subscription options for adults and full time students over 16. Under 16’s would join on our Junior rates (their page is also on the website).

For new joiners, the annual student subs are £25 and for adults it’s £150. If you are a goalkeeper with your own kit you can join for £75.

If you want to join as an occasional player you can pay £25 and play a maximum of 5 matches per season.

Depending on how far through the season we are when you join, we may be able to pro-rata the subs.

Match fees are payable for any games that you might play on a Saturday. These are £8 for students and £12 for adults. Occasional players pay £12 per match.

Matches

We play our home matches at Reading Uni. We will also travel away to various grounds around our nearby counties. We do try and car share to keep fuel costs down.

Our kit supplier is O'Neills Sportswear and you can order direct by going to our online shop.
