Thanks for coming to find us at our website. We hope you find everything you need to know here, but if you don't please use the Contacts page to drop us a quick line and one of our team will help you out.

Our vision is to be the first choice competitive, family orientated Clubmark accredited Club for people within the Reading Borough area.

The Club is in its 21st year, and is based at the University of Reading Sportspark.

The Club has 3 mens, and 3 ladies adult teams and a thriving junior section catering from ages 5 to 16.

Phoenix & Ranelagh Hockey Club promotes a ‘Safe Hockey For All’ ethos and operates using England Hockey's SafeD guidelines.

The Club offers competitive league matches for men and women of differing skill levels, the Club enters summer tournaments for those wishing to socialise with other Clubs and have some fun with friends, and the Junior section has a mixture of both league and non-competitive and tournament based fixtures.

The Club creates a safe, positive environment for all to play hockey in a family orientated environment, and where non playing members are equally valued within the Club for their contribution to volunteering, coaching and parental support.

The Club is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has a good experience whether they are new players or long term members of the Club.

Our History
The Club was formed in 1998 following the merger of two local clubs: Phoenix, established by players from the old Huntley and Palmers team in 1984, was based at the Prudential Ibis sports ground, and offered ladies, mens, and mixed hockey. Ranelagh, based just a few minutes away at Rivermead Leisure Centre, was established in 1928, and ran a thriving junior (girls and boys) section.

Until season 2012/13 Phoenix & Ranelagh Hockey Club played all their home matches at Rivermead, and continued to be based at the Prudential Ibis club. In season 2013/14 home matches moved to Reading University Sports Park with post match facilities staying at Prudential IBIS Club.

The following season we moved totally to Reading University which had a new astro (laid in summer 2015) and a new pavilion.

For season 2018/19, the Club will play at Reading University Sports Park and will also use their facilities for showers and teas, as well as for Committee meetings & social events throughout the season.

Affiliation and Accreditation
The Club is affiliated to England Hockey and achieved ClubMark accreditation from England Hockey at the end of 2010. This is a nationally recognised award for providing a safe, effective and child friendly hockey environment.

All our coaches, volunteers, captains and committee members are DBS checked when working with young people.
