Ladies 2's overcome Harlow 8-0

The Ladies 2's were 8-0 winners for the second week in a row against a depleted Harlow High Wycombe team who had travelled with the bare 11 and some key players missing.

The 2's got off to a great start with 2 quick goals for Naomi Ashcroft, following by 2 more at the end of the first half by Steph Newton having a cheeky turn up front!

Despite having a couple of breakaway chances in the first half, the P&R back line held firm with Ady Brown and Lucy Plummer again controlling the back line and distributing the ball well up the pitch. Harlow HW won a couple of late short corners in the half but Pam Saker did her usual excellent work running one and cleared away any danger.

The second half started much the same with Ashcroft adding another 2 in the first 5 minutes of the half to take the score to 6-0. Mollie Edgar was introduced into the second half after 10 minutes to replace Ashcroft and she continued the good work - driving in from the left and making some jinking runs into the D. Her hard work paid off on 60 mins when she went past 2 players and hit a low hard shot which the GK diverted into her own net (but we'll make sure it gets given to Mollie for her efforts!).

The halves played a big part in today's game with Pam Saker, Mandy Wilton and Amy Robinson all getting in the action both in attack and defensively. The final say went to Ashcroft who came back on up front with ten to go and added her 5th goal and P&R's 8th with 2 minutes left on the clock.

The team kept their clean sheet record and keep their chances of promotion in their own hands.

Next week is a late PB (4.15pm) away to Maidenhead and we are in for a tough game - all supporters welcome for that one!
