McMenamin in hat trick goal fest!

P&R Ladies 2's pummelled bottom of the table Milton Keynes 8-0 at the Uni Sportspark, with some free flowing attacking hockey on Saturday. The game started brightly with Liz McMenamin getting 2 goals in the first 10 minutes to set the tone for the rest of the match. Steph Newton made absolutely sure from 4 yards out just before half time, smashing the ball against the backboard to make it 3-0.

Halftime saw a little reshuffle with Ady Brown coming into Centre Half, and the pressure on MK mounted with P&R unleashing waves of attacks and winning lots of short corners.

Naomi Ashcroft scored the first goal of the second half to make it 4-0, followed quickly by Liz adding another to get her hat-trick. Beth James and Heather Boulton joined in the goal scoring, grabbing one each, and in the dying minutes Grace Slade added the 8th with a great solo drive and strike from the right hand side.

Milton Keynes, who travelled with only 11 players, struggled to remove P&R from their half and when they did, Lucy Plummer, and Pam Saker cleared up any danger. GK Hannah Doherty was a virtual spectator for most of the match but played her part in playing as a sweeper when some loose long balls came into the D from rare MK attempts to get out of their half.

Next week the team are home to Harlow High Wycombe who always cause the 2's some problems with their old-fashioned hockey style. Fingers crossed this week's game will give the team confidence that they can do better than the 2-2 draw from earlier this season and take a win!
