but great signs for the season!

A very different looking Ladies 2's played their first pre-season game on Saturday but unfortunately couldn't hold onto the lead.

With a lot of up and coming youngsters playing, the game started well with a goal for P&R in the first 20 minutes from a short corner. Wallingford sadly arrived without a keeper to start the game and the team made the most of the chance to score. The team worked hard in defence with a strong W'Ford team putting the pressure on the relatively inexperienced P&R team in front of them. The orange back line of Fran Flach, Lucy Plummer and Hannah Doherty kept a clean sheet in the first half ably assisted by Genny Porter getting back to make some great tackles, but the warning signs were there that W'Ford were dangerous given half a chance.

Half time saw P&R lead 1-0 and Wallingford rearranged their team following the arrival of a GK kit, donated by the P&R Ladies 3's, for them to use. Having a GK to play against seemed to kick P&R into life just after half time, and they went 2-0 up with Pam Saker gliding in from left wing to score her first ever goal!!

The tide turned in Wallingford's favour soon after, and they got back to 2-1 within 10 minutes, and then scored again to equalise. With 5 minutes left to go, the points looked certain to be shared but tiredness got the better of P&R and Wallingford got a 3rd and winning goal.

Next week sees the 2's take on Div 1 opposition Reading Rebels at home at 10am and then the league campaign gets underway on 23rd September.
