Celebrate your unsung hero!!

Dear All

As we approach end of the season it’s time once again to think not only of your players of the season, but to also honour the memory of Heather Smith (aka Woodie who is pictured in a typical pose), by nominating club members for “The Woodie Award for the Club Member of the Year”.

Heather Smith (aka Woodie) was a larger than life member of the P&R hockey family, and who embodied the sort of spirit that P&R is renowned for. Woodie sadly passed away in June 2014 but the award honours her memory by recognising the contribution of people in the P&R family that show similar team spirit and attitude to Woodie.

Previous winners since we started the award in 2016 have been Hugh Hamilton, Ady Hardy and Jackie Batten-Lincoln.

So, who do you think is deserving of the Woodie award for this season? Who do you feel goes above and beyond, who works hard for the benefit of the Club, possibly behind the scenes or maybe the ‘unsung hero’ doing some of the dirty jobs that keep things running. Do they personify the spirit of this club?

This person doesn't have to be a committee role holder - they can be a volunteer helper, a parent, a coach or umpire. The nominations can come from the adult and junior sections so all parents, players, volunteers and coaches are invited to nominate their own hero for this season!

You provide the shortlist and the Committee will review the nominations and decide on the eventual winner to be presented at the Dinner Dance.

Please reply by Friday 5th April with the name of the person you would like to nominate, with reasons for their nomination and send them to Jackie Batten-Lincoln (Club Secretary) at battiejax@hotmail.co.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you all with your nominations.

Regards
Caley
Club Chairman
