Sunday April 15th annual tournament in support of Bowel Cancer UK.

Young players from Phoenix & Ranelagh Hockey Club took on a Coaches and Parents team along with and a President’s 11 in a fundraising tournament to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK on Sunday 15 April 2018.

Lili Martin, one of the under 16 junior girls said "we wanted to carry on our annual tradition to do something different at the end of the season and have a bit of fun challenging the adults to a game. They're much slower than us, but pretty skillful and it was a lot of fun!"

Adrienne Hardy, Phoenix’ Junior Coordinator said. "There is a real appetite for the adult players in our club to support our junior section, for which I am very grateful. This was for many a real family affair, with whole families on the pitch together, which is always good for a laugh! To combine that with raising money for a good cause was a fantastic way to end our successful season. My dad was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer, so it was a delight to learn that the Club had decided that this was the charity of choice for this year."

After some hard running and good fun hockey, post-match snacks kindly supplied by Oxford Road based restaurant Reading Tandoori were enjoyed by all.
